The Danes Love Peacocks.... a Little Too Much.

The other day I visited Egeskov Castle with my class.  If you want to see some pictures of the BEAUTIFUL castle, read my second to last post.  The estate had a ton of peacocks wandering around the property which was really cool but also somewhat terrifying.... they were very very friendly.

This beautiful male put on a show for us all.  He kept posing which made for perfect pictures.

I have 2 pretty great stories about some Danish boys that involve peacocks.

This picture is really just self explanatory.  I'm not sure why anyone would think "letting peacocks eat bread out of my mouth is a good idea!"  Isn't bread bad for birds?

I' m not sure what he was smoking but it really made for an entertaining lunch period.... so thanks random guy!

My second encounter with crazy people and peacocks involved two school aged boys around the age of 7 or 8.  Seconds after this photo, the kid in the red hat was bit by the peacock on his pointer finger.

I'm not really sympathetic because for about 10 minutes prior to getting bit he was waving his finger in front of its beak.  The best part of the entire ordeal was the look of betrayal on his face after the bird "dared" to bite him.  He could hardly believe the peacock had the nerve to give him a nip...

Guess that's what happens when you use your fingers as bait...
